Project Description: AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES was the surveying and mapping subconsultant to the Quechan Indian Tribe for the Interstate 8/State Route 186 Interchange Improvements project. Survey duties included researching record survey information at the County Surveyor's office and at Caltrans, establishing horizontal and vertical control based on local Caltrans first order monuments and establishing a supplementary horizontal control network throughout the project area based on the California State Plane Coordinate System, NAD83, Zone 6. Third order or better vertical control was established for ground surveys in terms of the North American Vertical Datum of 1988. AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES also set eight (8) aerial targets and performed an RTK GPS control survey to establish coordinates and elevations on the targets for aerial mapping within the project mapping limits. AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES coordinated flyover photogrammetry for the aerial mapping. Digital aerial mapping in Caltrans format was prepared for the project area sufficient to complete the project design and as requested by the design engineers. A digital color ortho-photo was delivered with the aerial mapping. AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES performed a comprehensive right-of-way survey. A base right-of-way map of the entire project area was prepared and delivered to the design engineers. AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES performed ground surveys that included a Bridge survey, ramp edge of traveled way and centerline, Interstate 8 edge of traveled way and State Route 186 edge of traveled way and centerline. AGUIRRE & ASSOCIATES obtained the Caltrans encroachment permit and provided traffic control services necessary for survey work within the Caltrans right-of-way.
